About the Opportunity:

Maltem would help our partner to complete planned enhancement of the existing experience study process, including the migration of the process onto the Azure cloud (or chosen) platform and to achieve the objectives set out by the agreed data model.

Responsibilities:

Drive delivery of the new experience study process for retail insurance:

  • Support our partner to deliver on the planned industrialisation of the experience study process and the new analytics platform.
  • Automation and documentation of the new experience study process where required, such that key person dependencies can be removed.
  • Delivery of updated retail experience investigations and recommendations based on the new updated study processes.

Any other tasks or responsibilities assigned from time to time by management.

Qualifications :

  • Strong understanding of actuarial or data engineering principles, standards, processes and operations.
  • Ability to syndicate insights and recommendations.
  • An understanding of the Insurance business, its products and key drivers of profitability and returns.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • An adaptable, flexible attitude to cope with competing priorities whilst independently working to tight timeframes.
  • Ability to review the reasonableness of output and apply judgment – balance the need for focus on the big picture with the required attention to detail and delivering high-quality recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate concisely, in a clear and effective way, both verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Capacity to constructively challenge both business and finance leaders, where appropriate.
  • Effective engagement within the team and with other teams to successfully carry out data initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with other members of the Data Analytics team, IT, and teams that initiatives are delivered to.

Ideal experience:

  • 5+ years post qualification experience in a broad range of roles.
  • Experience in the Insurance industry and specifically the Retail advised and Experience in Data engineering preferable.
  • Experience in Azure / Databricks / R / SQL or similar languages is advantageous.
  • Experience in the delivery of experience studies is preferred.
  • Experience working with large and complex data sets and the development and implementation of data tools and solutions is advantageous.
  • Experience in the Insurance industry and specifically the Retail Advised, and Direct markets are advantageous.

Technical capability/knowledge of Australian and New Zealand actuarial financial reporting and capital standards and economic valuation practice is advantageous but not essential.
